Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings
Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings address the sociocultural and political structures that reinforce conservatism and discriminatory practices within and around the LGBTQ+ community. Working across film, drawing, installation, performance and fresco, they archive the politics, histories and aesthetics of queer spaces and culture in the West, and proposes strategies for the redistribution of power in relation to gender, class and race.
Select solo exhibitions include Public Affairs at Berlin’s Isabella Bortolozzi, In My Room at MOSTYN in Llandudno, Wales In My Room at Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea in 2020. Group exhibitions include BREATHLESS / SENZA RESPIRO. London Art Now, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia), Kiss My Genders at Hayward Gallery and Queer Spaces: London, 1980s – Today at Whitechapel Gallery in London in 2019, and The Cruising Pavilion for the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale.
Quinlan and Hastings participate in the "In Excess" group exhibition.
