Yi Li is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist who uses sound, image, video, large-scale installations, and theatrical displays to replicate abstract sensory experiences, reorganizing suggestive “unmanned scenes” in physical and digital spaces. Embodying multiple roles, Yi’s artistic practice spans multimedia art, curation of the series of site-specific curatorial initiatives Thorn Apple Project, DJ persona yimo yivil, and the co-founding of ESEA-centered cross-disciplinary festival AN(8)X.
Yi received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Department of Time-Based Media at the HFBK Hamburg in 2019 and 2023, and has spent recent years making community-building—especially among Asian POC—a core focus of their practice through in-depth exploration and collaborations in art and music.
