Shuang Li
Born in Wuyi Mountains, China, the Berlin and Geneva-based artist’s work is situated in globalized communication systems and inspired by various localities and uneven information flows. Since receiving her MA in media studies from New York University in 2014, Li’s work has carried on to encompass performance, interactive websites, sculpture, and moving image installations, while studying various mediums composing the contemporary digital landscape. With the interaction between medium and its users, as well as amongst the mediums themselves, at its core these diverse forms of intimacy form a motif that runs through the artist's practice, as she explores how various forms of technology bring us into contact, and how they form part of a neoliberal apparatus that regulates the body and desire.
Li has had solo shows at Peres Projects, Callie's, and Open Forum in Berlin, as well as Cherish, Geneva, while exhibiting in a number of international shows at Tai Kwun Contemporary and Para Site, in collaboration with Rockbund Art Museum, in Hong Kong, Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève in Switzerland, Times Museum in Guangzhou and Mao Jihong Arts Foundation in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou. She is currently participating in the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
Shuang Li exhibits her film, "I Want to Sleep More but by Your Side" in the "Deep Thought" film program.
