Shaly López

Shaly López is an Berlin-based Ecuadorian scenographer and light designer whose work explores the possibilities of staging for non-physical dimensions of space, such as those found in meditative states, dreams, and hallucinations. Through sound, light, and scent design, he explores the potential of staging on the threshold of perception, creating subtle atmospheric compositions that challenge the visual hierarchy of experience.

López graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with a Master’s degree in Directing for Devised and Object Theater. His design work has been shown at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, and KunstHalle Bern. His work as an installation artist has been premiered at the Homo Novus festival in Riga, the Beyond the Black Box and Over Het Ij festivals in Amsterdam, the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Space, SAVVY Contemporary, and HKW in Berlin.
