Prison Religion are a digital punk band originally from Richmond, Virginia. Since forming in 2016, their focus has been on subverting aggressive, loud music through electronic lenses. There exists many localised genre tropes in heavy music, and they believe a more neutral, global sound exists—one which compresses the anguish of mortality and disgust at systemic failure into a fruitful and connective sound. The most revealing evidence of this is at any live performance, where their energy permeates through the crowd's empathetic excitement and rage–an exhale of contemporary contempt, an inhale of others’ understanding.
