
Alice Bucknell
The North-American London-based artist and writer works primarily through video-game engines, exploring interconnections of architecture, ecology, magic, and non-human and machine intelligence. In 2021, she founded New Mystics, a collaborative platform exploring the practices of twelve artists merging magic, mysticism, and ritual with advanced technology, featuring texts co-written with the Language AI GPT-3.
She has exhibited her video work internationally, most recently including the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, Bloomberg New Contemporaries, Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, Kunsthalle Wien, Fiber Festival, and Serpentine Galleries. Her writing appears regularly in art, architecture and design publications including Flash Art, Frieze, Mousse, and The Architectural Review, and more. Bucknell is currently an Associate Lecturer in MA Narrative Environments at Central Saint Martins, and has guest lectured at universities and institutions, including SCI-Arc in LA, Royal College of Art, INDA in Bangkok, and Wysing Arts Centre, among others.
Alice Bucknell exhibits her film, "The Martian Word for World is Mother" in the "Deep Thought" film program.
