Sadaf

SADAF (aka Sadaf H Nava) is an New York-based Iranian composer and visual artist whose multidisciplinary interventions include sound, video, performance and text. Her visuals, sonics and confrontational performative tactics were born in the noise and DIY scene of Montreal.

Oscillating between opacity and narrative, SADAF’s work aims to confound and upend the inward-looking affect inherent to contemporary performance, simultaneously drawing from and subverting the language of auto-fiction, cinema and the artist/muse relationship. Her original compositions and DJ sets present a mélange of intuitive and clashing material inspired by global archaeologies of sound. She has been heavily active in the experimental music, art and club scenes in downtown NYC and Brooklyn, and has collaborated with artists such as Juliana Huxtable and Japanese experimental saxophonist Tamio Shiraishi, as well as tour support for eclectic duo ODWALLA 1221.
