Kara-Lis Coverdale

Kara-Lis Coverdale, also known as K-LC, is a Canadian composer, musician, and producer based in Montreal. Coverdale is known for both her piano, organ, and keyboard work and for her experimental electronic projects. Her work often integrates the two, blurring the line between traditional composition and research-based modernism. In doing so, it interrogates the distinction between the human and the machine. Her album Aftertouches exploits the systemic nature of a post-sacred and post-instrumental world, continuing Coverdale’s exploration of coded realism and virtual transfiguration. Through an optimistic lens, Aftertouches celebrates the multiple voices of the machine. Synthetic instruments sourced from VSTs, sound banks, and personal archives are arranged into holograms of dreams that are often rooted in physical origins. Coverdale is the recipient of the ACNMP Contemporary Showcase Promising Young Artist Award which was presented by Ann Southam.
