Alexa Vachon

Alexa Vachon is a Canadian-born and Berlin-based photographer and photojournalist focusing on gender identity, women’s rights and human rights. Working on her own long-term projects, as well as on assignment for various international publications, Vachon’s work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Vice Magazine, Italian Vogue, Interview Magazine and Missy Magazine, among others.

Previous publications by Vachon include a book exploring queer and feminist pornography in what we do in the light, and another one documenting Swedish synth-pop duo The Knife’s final tour in Shaking the Habitual. Vachon exhibits her work widely and has been awarded grants from the VG Bild-Kunst, the Canada Council for the Arts and the US Embassy in Berlin. She was a European Journalism Fellow at the Freie University in Berlin and her latest book, called Rise, follows a football team of refugee women in Germany, which published in October 2018.
