Breakdown with BAZOGA, Chippy Nonstop, DJ Paypal, GIL, Kikelomo

The main objective of 3hd 2018: System.Lure has been to imagine new possibilities for a freer more inclusive world for everyone. Before change can happen, the existing systems and structures that confine us must be exposed, understood and, ultimately, destroyed. The “Breakdown” party concludes the festival with earth-shaking action from some of the internet’s most dynamic performers. Part of their strength lies in their multifarious and indefinable styles and aesthetics, where the language of power has no hold on these artists and how they choose to express themselves. If something can’t be named, labelled or identified, it cannot be constrained by what those words imply.

Brothers Salim and Tayeb Bayri’s Bazoga work with art, music and design to produce cross-platform and multidisciplinary work that exists and is concerned with the elusive space between IRL and the internet. Chippy Nonstop is a nomadic and multinational sound selector producing thrillingly aggressive instrumentals scattered with the stylistic bric-a-brac picked up from her heritage and along her travels. DJ Paypal is one of the most far-flung members of the Teklife footwork crew, both musically and geographically, while GIL goes in deep on his rousing and vigorous set of a kind of perverted power noise that appears in assaults of brutal samples. Meanwhile, Kikelomo closes out the program with a set packed full of everything from grime, garage and bass, to hip hop, RnB and baile funk. Her speciality is playing music that makes you want to throw some serious shapes and party to a beat for breaking down the barriers between us.
