The norm is the start and the exit. "By(e) Default" follows Anja Kaiser’s proxy on a polygonal learning curve; an attempt to trace, to follow the script, to read the lips. Yet it falls short of understanding, it’s left in doubt, hesitating, stuttering and buffering. Unconvinced and unconvincing. The online work is developed in cooperation with composer Petit Singe and exists in the interstices between real bodies; representations full of uncertainty and emotional error margins to underline that a unifying concept between body and identity can only be deficient.
